Back to Paris

 My EID version of Jamie got a new suit from Period Threads this week, inspired by SartoriaJ's Rococo themed dolls a couple of releases ago. I thought Jamie would look stunning in something similar, so my friend Robyn (Period Threads) agreed to make Jamie something of his own.

Robyn's attention to detail is second to none. She used embroidery around the edges of the coat, and I think it adds quite a rich feel to it, and it is in better scale than any of the trims that we found available. 

I chose a patterned silk for the waistcoat instead of doing trim on a plain silk (as SJ did on the outfit they offered that was the inspiration for Jamie's outfit). I love how it turned out.

I'm also super pleased with how well the three silks blended for the total look of the outfit! I don't think Jamie will be taking this gorgeous outfit off anytime soon!

Welcome Spring

 I can't believe it has been 3 years since I've updated this blog. Sadly, my Outlander crew haven't gotten much attention the past couple of years. I was inspired by SartoriaJ's new collection highlighting Versailles to dig through my clothing stash for my mini's and redress Roger and Bree. I originally had Jamie and Claire in mind for these outfits, but sadly, the vest/coat on Roger's outfits didn't stretch well across Jamie's wider chest/shoulders. (Jamie is on the Muscle body and Roger is on the FID Model body).

With Bree's red hair, I have to say this dress probably suits her better than Claire anyway. Both outfits are from SartoriaJ and I've had them for several years, although this is the first time they have been on dolls. The outfit on Roger is currenctly back up FS during the "Versailles" event. I wish they would have introduced new outfits for the mini size. I may pick up the red dress in the mini size, as I had not purchased it previously. The only issue with the dress is you have to take the hands off to get the sleeves over them.

I have to say, I really enjoy Edan as Roger. He was a bit of a "fluke" when "casting", but I think he works perfectly with Bree.

Roger Mac

 Every since my FID Edan arrived I have been kicking around the idea of putting him in some period clothing and seeing how I liked him as Roger Mac. He reminds me quite a bit of Richard Rankin, who plays Roger in the TV show (even if he isn't the embodiment of how I saw book Roger). So this morning I changed his clothes into period clothing and tried one of my Chewin wigs on him (that was actually made for FID Leonard), and Hurrah it fit him! Then I got Bree out for some shots of them together.

I actually like them together quite a lot!! I didn't put green eyes in him because I HATE changing eyes in the dolls this size, and if he didn't work as Roger for me, then I didn't want to change them back. I do think I may have to leave him in the role of Mr. Mackenzie though! I really like him with Brianna a lot. 

Guess now I need to find him some green eyes, and a better fitting vest (this one is sized for the RD men. I think he's a keeper in this role!

Christmas Plaid

 I got this beautiful Christmas plaid skirt for Marsali after last Christmas I believe, from Robyn of Period Threads,  and I've been looking forward to trying it on her. This morning I actually had some dolly time. I love the color red, and I think this skirt and waist cincher suits her quite well.

Real life has gotten in the way of my dolly time the past few months. Even before real life had gotten in the way I had been spending more time with the smaller dolls than the larger ones. I'm running out of space for the large doll boxes, so I have switched my focus to the mid Iple FID/SJ and Raccoon Dolls. Every time I take the time to get the big dolls out though, I remember how lovely they are to photograph.

Marsali, my mature Narae, is my oldest BJD. I had BJD's before her, but they have all moved on. She was one of the first dolls I bought who had such a high level of realism to her features, and really made me fall in love with BJD's.

Her lovely face up was done way back in 2007 I believe, by Cristy of Xtremedolls. I think she is still quite lovely. I like her in the role of Marsali. I didn't really have a set "role" for her previously, so she had been pretty neglected over the past few years. 

Some new Duds

 It's been a while................real life has really gotten in the way of dolly time for the past couple of months. I finally got a chance this past week to photograph Claire in her new dress from JeansbyJenna. It is made for the FID Slim body, as I ordered it for Brianna, but then I noticed it would work well paired with Jamie in his blue silk vest made by Robyn of Period Threads.

Fraser Blue

 I had Robyn at Period Thread make this vest for me a while ago as I thought it would match Jamie's eyes well. Finally got some photos of him in it.

Dressing for Spring

 These pictures didn't turn out quite as nice as I'd hoped they would. I misjudged the natural light a bit, but Brianna donned her spring vest (by Period Threads) and I just felt like taking her out for some new pics since I haven't spent time with any of my Outlander crew for a while. I love the vined material in the material of the vest.

The face up on Brianna turned out so nice. When I ordered it, I was hoping I would like the lip color ok, as in the promos it seemed quite orange. In person it looks much more natural. Perfect for the time period Brianna resides in.

Reluctant Bride

 Looking back through my previous blog entries I realized I had never photographed mini Claire in her wedding dress to post on the blog. Scintillatingdollies on Etsy made this beautiful gown for the FID sized dolls. When I saw it in 2018, I just couldn't resist it. The embroidery is beautiful on the bodice.

And on the skirt as well, and the material of the skirt is a really nice choice as well, and as close as can probably be expected to find in dolly scale.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased with my 17" version.

More Fall Knits

 I've wanted to take these two outside for a photo shoot together for a while now, as I wanted to put both of them in their shawls by Beachgirlnikita on Etsy. Finally got around to lugging them out today. Luckily, with period wear, I can still use their stands outside.

Both of their skirts and Claire's vest are by Robyn of Period Threads. Geillis' top is from Iple. I found the cute little baskets at Hobby Lobby.

I knitted Geillis' arm warmers and Claire's are by Sherry Isenbarger.

Sunny Afternoon

 I changed Bree to another one of her new skirts and took her out for some photos. I thought the bushes out front were a little more shaded than they actually were, but we weren't out long. Just makes getting the shots a little more difficult, although I do like the dappled light affect here.

It was a bit windy too, but I guess that is to be expected as it is fall.............

I need to get motivated and knit some more things for the smaller dolls. I do like how this scarf/shawl I knitted last year works with this skirt though.

Mother & Son

 Still playing with Marsali, trying on different things in the wardrobe to see what might fit her. I put one of the nYID outfits I have on her, and while not a perfect fit, it will work in a pinch. I also decided to get my little blonde Dollshe Robin out and put him in some shots with her to see how he might work as Germain.

I like him in this role a lot............now I just have to find some blue eyes for him I guess. I guess I may have to shell grown up Fergus too! I may see how my SartoriaJ Jude works in the role.............what a slippery slope! 

And one last shot of Marsali. I had forgotten I had this "cap", as I've never used it before as Claire refuses to wear one. It suits Marsali though.

Marsali

 I was looking at the grouping of my Outlander dolls in my doll room this morning and had the thought that my Mature Narae (who is my oldest BJD, but she never gets any attention anymore) might fit in well as Marsali in the Outlander world. I love my Narae, and have no intentions of selling her, and it would be fun to put her in a role where she might actually get more attention. Forgive her shirt, she needs a proper shift, but this morning was a testing of trying to figure out if I thought she would fit in, so I just pulled together some clothing I had that was workable.

 I pulled down Rachel and Claire from the doll room to do a group shot of the women of Fraser's Ridge to see what I thought.  I really think she works well in the role.  She's tiny next to Rachel and Claire, but I've always seen Marsali as tiny anyway, and Marsali in the TV show is tiny as well, so her size works for me.  Now that I have decided that she does work rather well in this role I'll have to work on getting her some clothing pieces of her own. The waist cincher and skirt made for my nYID doll does fit her rather well though. I'm excited to have another way to play with an old favorite.

Putting these three together for a photo makes me want to get Brianna in SID size to go with them! They do make rather a striking group I think.

More Knits

 Fall is the time for knits, so Geillis is modeling our newest "knit" from Beachgirlnikita on Etsy. I knitted the arm warmers when I was first learning.........I need to do some newer ones that are a little less bulky. Skirt is from Period Threads and top is Iple.

As much as I like the newer Iple hands, I still love the old ones as well. They are good for holding things like this basket.
