Story Background: Claire was a 1940's combat nurse thrown back in time to the 1700's while on holiday with her husband. While in the 1700's she is forced to marry a Highlander to save herself (Jamie) and ends up falling in love with him. She is a healer/doctor.
Relationships: I would highly recommend reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series of books, starting with Outlander and watching the TV series of the same name.
Brief background relationships: Claire is married to Jamie (and Frank when she was in the 1940's), she has a daughter Brianna, is Aunt to Young Ian.
